When I was first admitted to the hospital I weighed 200lbs and had pretty large boobs. They put a needle that was too short in my portacath (which I got three days after admission) and it came out of the port, but not my skin so for 18+ hours my left boob SWELLED with saline. It was like, 3 times bigger and as hard as a nerf ball.

Had C-Diff three times. (If you don't know what that is look it up, if you do know what it is I'm sorry.) First time I had it I went 10 days without eating and was in the hospital for two weeks. I was in the hospital with it on my 18th birthday. (I was also in the hospital on Christmas Eve.)

Woke up half way through my tumor removal/knee replacement surgery. Don't remember any of that, thank god. Epidural wasn't compatible with my body, and they didn't realize that until 8 hours after the surgery. 8 hours of which I got to sit in agony.
After three epidural replacements they did a nerve block.

I don't even know what to say... I'm so sorry you had to endure through all of that. But you're a tough bugger, that's for sure! I've personally witness a lot of the suffering cancer can cause (mostly within my own family) and I'm impressed that you've dealt with it and kept on going like you have. I'm curious - being that it was so long ago, have doctors ever said there is ANY increased risk for you in your future? Or is it basically that 20 years have gone, you're good as gold? Just curious!

I had a similar scare when I was a teenager actually. It turns out that it was just a sudden growth of the epididymis and that I was a-ok, but the doctor was real impressed that I actually got over the fear and got myself checked out... most people do not and end up far worse off because of it. Glad you're all good :)

All in my teens, relapsed once. Cancer it self was a pain but the side effects fucked me over for good. Now I have long term issues with my bones that have no fix, not to portion plethora of other side effects. Plus the mental trauma from everything I'm about as useful as a cork. Plus growth was stunted, balls . We're fried, and I missed all social development. Note I'm in my mind twenties and as socially adjusted as a 12 year old. datelessVirginian for ever. I can't emphasize how much of a difference at what age you get sick makes.

2 broviacs 2 ports, bunch of spinal traps, a few hip surgeries,

Straight year of monthly impatient the first time, 1 then repeated plus 2 years of maintenance

The only positive experience was the anesthesia. Hmmm propofal

I posted on a mental illness thread earlier -

I had depression/bipolar when I started chemotherapy. Now I have PTSD, Paranoia, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Hypochondria.

I can't walk without a cane, I'm in chronic pain every day. You'd think the mental illness alone would be enough, but I'm pretty much a useless cripple that burdens everyone around with me with having to take care of me.

Honestly I wish they had just cut my fucking leg off so I could have an easier prosthetic to deal with. Anything could be better than this piece of trash they put in my body.

Got misdiagnosed with cancer once when 20 yrs. old. Turns out I had a benign bone tumor where my body just decided to make some more bones where I didn't need them. I guess its rare.

Am I not allowed to feel sympathy or empathy for another person who is suffering? Why are you being so awful right now? I can relate to a lot of what is being discussed in this thread and it makes me feel terrible because there's basically nothing I can do to help somehow. I see my own mother suffering from pretty serious breast cancer that is likely to claim her life any time now and the helplessness I feel is gut wrenching.
