You do realize that the NFL gets it's players from cfb? They can't play in the NFL until at least 3 years after HS because their bodies aren't deemed fully developed yet to play with the pros. Cfb is the trainning ground for future NFL players. It filters the talent from the shit. It isn't particularly good but ot serves a purpose. Also, if you to a college with a cfb team you watch out of pride or support.

It's an unpaid farm league. If these players were worth shit, the NFL would set up a minor league and pay the players and make money airing these games the same way they do with the major leagues. You think they gave the NCAA these players out of the goodness of their hearts? No, they did it because these shitty players couldn't generate sufficient revenue for them. Therefore, they decided to let the NCAA foot the bill and sift through the mountains of shit to get to the diamonds. Friendly reminder, literally 1% of college football players make an NFL roster (not even necessarily play). That's all I need to know.

1% of college players are good enough to be professionals.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS OLDER THAN PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL. College football is more ingrained in American culture than the NFL.

most schools will pay for their athlete's meal plans, and give them a small amount of spending money for the year. Some of my roommates my freshman year were D-1 athletes, and they never complained about going hungry, or not having enough money.
