So we call all agree that baseball is a shitty "sport" where the best team doesn't always win, right?

Like you play 162 games because apparently you need that big a sample size to weed out the good teams from the bad. Yet in playoff time you do 5/7 game series like all the other sports. How does that even make sense considering how much luck factors into this terrible "sport"?

But whatever. At the end of the day it's just fucking baseball. Enjoy your shitty "sport" while I enjoy living in the GREATEST country in the world with the most INFLUENTIAL world leader of our generation, smoking LEGAL weed and my FREE health care.

The way to fix baseball is to significantly reduce the schedule and make teams play once a week instead of every fucking day. You'll get less completely meaningless games and you'd see elite starting pitchers playing every game instead of teams overstacking their rotation like niggers.

Honestly the only good thing about baseball is the one game wildcard. It's glorious watching Pittsburgh win like 100 games and get eliminated in one.

If anything to save baseball they should shorten it to like a 20 game season, with 1 game playoffs/world series. Then all the games would sell out even for the shit teams because it would be an event now instead of some annoying occurence that happens every day for eight months of the year.

But I agree OP it really is a shitty sport and not many people care about it anymore. I'm guessing that hockey will even pass it soon. The NBA probably already did.

Even that seems to be too high. This is why I like the NFL, not because of the sport itself but because of the fact every game matters. You lose 10 in a row in football and you're officially fucked, but in baseball it literally doesn't matter.

In fact soccer does the same, but soccer is literally too global and too big to fail, unlike baseball.

Baseball is fine. Record revenue, record tv ratings on RSNs, record attendance, record tv deals. Not everything needs to change to cater to ADD imbeciles. We have plenty of fast paced sports.

Baseball was the unchallenged #1 sport in the US for decades. They're not #1 anymore precisely because they thought they're too big to fail and refused to change for the better.

That's precisely what's so endearing about it. If you miss a game, it's no big deal. It's the true marathon sport.

But if you miss an nfl game, you have to wait a whole week to see your team play. And you miss 1/17 of the seasons action

Football will always win on television. Just works better as a "tv viewing experience," and with the addition of fantasy football league and the gambling aspect, people will watch even the worst games.

Baseball is still comfortably the 2nd most popular sport. You're too focused on national tv ratings. Baseball kills it on RSNs, and is typically the most watched programming in its time slot during the regular season. And attendance is healthier than ever, this year saw the 6th best in history.

As far as not adapting, sure maybe the game is a little slow (doesn't bother me), but the MLB uses technology (Statcast, pitchfx, advanced stats, etc) far better than any other league on Earth.

Also, no game is "meaningless" during the regular season. Playoff races are often decided by a single game.
