As the world urbanises, more and more kids are going to be pushed off soccer pitches by congestion onto street basketball courts. The game requires only a buddy, a basket, a ball, and a couple of square meters to play. It doesn't even require grass on the field.
I'm not saying basketball is going to be bigger than soccer, just that, of all the sports in the world today, basketball is literally the only 1 thats got a chance. It's the perfect sport for getting lazy, fat kids off COD and into the game.
>>63095956I've considered this. You could say the same about Gridiron or boxing- a sport that requires you to hit each other until you have concussive brain damage will never be mainstream. It's true that this counts agains Basketball, but it also has the advantage in it needs far less players than soccer, so it evens out.
