It seems that alot of baseball teams (alot of really good baseball teams as well) have a couple down months through the season or hit one big rough patch. Like with the case of the Jays it was almost the entire first half of the season.
But the Royals after watching/listening to them all year have seemingly been red hot since opening day.
They had one week before the all star break where they lost to the Cubs (when they were also struggling), lost a series to the Twins and *I think* also got blown out by the Yankees 14-1 but after that they went right back to winning and didn't suffer any setbacks (even with Gordon, Rios and Vargas going down) for the rest of the year until the last 2 weeks of the season. They had run away with the division by the end of July.
So you could make a case that the Royals have only had like 3-4 "bad" weeks of the entire season. That's pretty impressive. I remember telling my friend at the game on opening day that it looked like the team hadn't missed a beat since the '14 playoffs and that we were going back to the World Series.
I'm glad I'm not eating my words
