Dear Peyton Manning, we love you and the world is cheering for you next week against the Packers. It matters that you're professional in the way you talk to reporters. It matters that you give credit to others — coaches, teammates, mentors. It matters that you don't give up in a bad game and keep fighting, no matter the odds. It matters that you take time to write notes to fans and sign autographs — even after crushing defeats. It matters that you know the difference between being embarrassed by your team's performance and just not being the best team on the field that day. And it matters that you meticulously prepare to play the game ... and encourage everyone around you to do the same. I doubt you take stock in what those analysts say about your legacy (no doubt a trait your father has bestowed upon you and your brothers), but I want you to know that this mom of two young boys (who already recognize you're different from the others) believes your legacy has never been stronger. And I'm confident thousands of others agree with me. You are that uncle everyone loves. We love you

>>63127395 In the moment, it was certainly the right call and any coach who didn't make that call would be an idiot, but when looking back it's easy to say, well fuck, even if he didn't get those 9 yards they still could go to OT, in which case he would almost certainly have got the yards (this was after they removed the sudden death rule) and could still have tried to get the win.
I've been a Vikings and Lakers fan since I was like 5, and an EXTREMELY casual LA Kings fan, the Kings have won a championship in that time, and the Lakers have won 5, with the I have a different mind set, I just root for players to have outstanding careers and good games.
Even after taking fanboy goggles off, this years team is built for a strong run and people are over looking them because they lost to the 49ers, they're defense is great across the board, 2nd lowest points allowed, great pass rushing, pretty good special teams, Bridgewater is getting better as he gains experience, Rudolph is young and underated as fuck, Peterson is still capable of top 3 numbers, Wallace is good at burning defenders and has good hands. they have a proven 50yard FG capable kicker. Besides the 49ers they've controlled every game they've had and only lost to Denver(undefeated) by 3 (in Denver) despite a couple 50/50 calls they lost, 2 were arguable fumble recoveries the ref's ruled dead and 1 very iffy "4th and inches" I think they ruled a stop of forward progress after he was already pushed back.
Now considering they play the shit bears twice, and winnable games against the Rams(in Minnesota) Raiders and Giants(in Minnesota) the only way they don't make the wildcard cut is if Seattle stops playing like shit and wins most of their remaining games, which only has 1 "easy" win and almost certain losses against the steelers and twice against the Cardinals.
I think the wildcard team is going to come down to who can steel a win between Vikings/Packers 2 games or Seattle/Arizona's 2 games.

Wallace is fast, but he often doesn't connect with Teddy. AP is starting to show his age (albeit at a slower rate than any other 30 year old back). The Rams defense is VERY underrated, and the Vikings haven't won in Chicago in what, 8 years? The Packers still have the Cardinals, Broncos and Panthers to play, so them winning enough games to easily bench their players in game 16 is debatable. Even then, though, even if the Vikings are good enough for a wildcard spot, are they good enough to win the Super Bowl? If not, why have them go to the playoffs at all?

Right now you have the undefeated Pats, Bengals and Broncos, and the Colts, with wildcards for the Jets and steelers.
If they changed it to just the 6 best teams by record, it's still the undefeated Pats, Bengals, Broncos, and the Colts, Jets and Steelers.
The only way it changes if at some point a division has 2 good teams and a separate division is full of shit teams, which is unlikely since you have to play your division's teams twice... which is kind of what we have now with the Steelers/Bengals and AFC south

It means they start chocking hardcore when they lose but could also easily pick up steam and become the team they were the last two years.
The only loss they can tolerate is their Cardinals away game. They will without question lose that game. If they fail anywhere else they'll crash and burn and their dynasty has no chance of coming back.

I think the NFL playoffs are built for upsets because a game can change off of 1 play, 1 fumble or interception, or one receiver who can get open once and get a TD can change the game, If you have one "lucky" score it might take the other team another 5 minutes of game time just to make up for it and tie it, and you only need 1 upset to advance, compared to the NBA where games are non-stop marathons of scoring and 1 lucky shot has very little impact, and then you have to beat them 3 more times
