They looked pretty bad in the first 8 minutes, but yeah, first game. Jones looks especially bad. For some reason McHale started the offense with Harden running the offense, and it didn't work. I thought Lawson was gonna run it all. Plus they're getting killed on the boards with Dwight out. They're looking better now though.

I wouldnt call McHale a top ten coach. He does a decent job at keeping moral up and teaching big men fundamentals. But his game strategy is something that still needs work. Maybe he will prove me wrong this season

Feel free to name 10 better coaches.

Coaching isn't always about adjustments, it's just as much about leadership and experience and McHale has that in spades. It's easier to find a good Xs and Os head coach than it is to find one that's a strong leader and all your players respect. The Xs and Os can be supplemented by assistants, the strong leadership cannot.
And this is exatly Morey's philosophy, by his own admission.

Change that to 2 more made 3s from Ariza (+6), 3 more from Harden (+9), an extra 2 calls for harden (+4 FTs), Brewer making his free throws (+2) and it's a win.
It looked like a lot of rust, but the underlying game plan wasn't faulty.
