As a Cardinals fan I've had the "pleasure" of meeting some Royals fans here in St. Louis. It has become a game between me and my Card friends as we troll the shit out of them.

I remember there was a group of guys who were decked in Royals gear last postseason. We went up to them to talk baseball. My friend said:

"Hey I heard the Royals are going to get Miguel Cabrera from the Dodgers in the offseason". (obviously fucking with them)

They all got excited then asked what position he played. When we told him he can play third or first they said no because Billy Butler was their first baseman and hes too good to give up (he wasn't even their first baseman but their DH).

We were laughing so hard at how little they knew about baseball

I think this picture defines the two fanbases and their relationship to each other and their respective teams.

You can obviously that the Cardinals fan is attempting to educated the Royals fan on the finer points of baseball. Perhaps the Cardinals fan is asking who generated more win shares in their prime: Lou Brock or George Brett. The Cardinal fan knows of course, but he's using it as an ice breaker to discuss baseball.

Meanwhile, the Royals fan, with his try hard adolescent "swag" get up, seems intellectually over-stimulated, capable of only thinking in memes. I would expect his reply to the Cardinals fan to be , "Uhhh, did you know that song that girl sings is based on the Royals? MOOOOSSSEEEEE!!!!"

i actually have good conversation with cardinals fans. We talk about more than just our teams and have a good knowledge of baseball in general.

I can't have a conversation with a Royals fan because they regurgitate soap stories about their players. They can't hold a baseball conversation without going >muh perez and they don't know anything about other teams.

So no I wouldn't say Cardinals fans are the worst, although they do throw their WS titles around. That is pretty annoying.

Another long time Royals fan (since 1980 at least) here.

Winning teams draw more fans in attendance. Losing teams don't. Teams with enormous populations within twenty minutes of the stadium draw more fans. Teams from smaller markets don't.

Royals fans don't know much about the game (I don't blame them). I can't hold a baseball conversation with them because outside of their team they are completely clueless. They also don't understand advanced stats.
