I was a teacher at a small college in a pretty big city. (Living elsewhere now for unrelated reasons) Me and some other teachers in our department decided to have a end-of-semester party with some students. As things were dying down, we got pretty drunk and one of the girls suggested a drinking game that basically involved a lof of intimate contact while clothed.
Predictably, it boiled down to me making out with this student and she reassured me that she was "going to transfer to another school and you're not my teacher anymore."
It felt great and fun in the moment since this was a certifiably Grade A 100% hottie-hot-hot who also got perfect grades. Felt like a total shit who betrayed everything he was about after I sobered up.
And guess who was still in my department and still in my class when school came back to session (and please before you start, I know she wasn't lying about her intention as she'd talked about it openly for weeks before).
Fortunately, this has a happy ending in that I never even remotely alluded to what happened that day, the witnesses kept their mouths shut, and the girl pulled legitimate work to get a good grade and never asked me for any "favors." For the rest of my time in this college, I decided to not tempt fate again, even when I had another student, who was NOT in my department but certainly thought attractive, actively chase me.
Moral of the story: Guys do stupid shit they know they shouldn't do for their dicks.
It sucks that Lewin's ideas have been thrown out along with his name, but if I'd been fired from my job, I know that I would merit much the same reason because ethics violations are ethics violations and an institution should not fuck around with it. One violation like mine would be bad enough news. Three Reported? Your done.
