One of these days I'll rip all my old VHS tapes. Super nostalgia incoming!
Around 19 years ago (which is when I moved to my current location), I stumbled across some show called Mutant League. We just bought our first fuck huge satellite dish. 11 year old self couldn't fathom just how much there was to discover. When I was 6-7 I came up with the idea that would eventually become on-demand TV / Netflix. Still, that shit was science fiction to me. Just a hopeful dream.
Whoa, getting sidetracked. Anyway, I put down the remote after I found Mutant League. The show right after turned out to be Sailor Moon. My family and I fell in love with anime. Really wish I could remember the channel name so I could thank them in this post.
Sailor Moon was a gateway for me. After seeing it, I started renting whatever anime Blockbuster / Video Vault had. Mom eventually noticed we were spending a bunch on rentals. In a move to save money AND give me something awesome, she bought a subscription to some anime mailing service. Once a month, they would send me a VHS to keep. It was mostly titles from Steamline Pictures / Central Park Media (US Manga Corps). Still have them around in storage.
Thank you Mutant League, Sailor Moon, and mom. Your mutual effort has provided me with a lifetime of entertainment.
