8th edition was the last iteration of WHFB before AoS took over, so its basically the "current" edition of warhammer
9th age is some kind of community driven attempt at a 9th edition warhammer, kinda like Endhammer. Both unofficial
6th edition is an older edition that some people, at least around here, prefer to the newer editions

some of the people who have been playing for a longer time remember previous rule sets and prefer one edition to another
Personally I think 8th edition is playable, and some tourneys are even being run at my local store
Which is another thing, if you see an announcement for a WHFB tournament, they're probably using the 8th edition rule set

Oh, and End times did in fact change some things, which i think can be found in the rules errata
Stuff like, in the vanilla 8th edition, heroes and lords can take up 25% of your army's points value
With the End Times, that was increased to 50%
Stuff like that

None of the weapons teams are viable, the rattling gun can be used to keep monsters and fast Calvary from popping your grey seer bunker.
All other instances they just bite into your unbreakable slave block points.

If you are going to take weapoms teams the doomflayer and its potential 13 S4 auto hits on the charge to win combats which your stormvermin brick and lord couldn't normally win is the only one that won't potentially misfire and kill an abomination or your warplightning cannon.

tl;dr: Competitive skaven lists don't take clanrats, doomflayer is the only option that cheaply fills a problem skaven units have.

No, endhammer is a fanfiction circle from /tg/. It's all somehow worse than GWs stuff but they're working on it and it sucks less than it once did.

9th age is a community mod being released by the ETC group and the SWEDISH comp group. They're guys who put together tournament rule sets with great success for like 15 years.
Their rule set is living so they update it and balance it as they receive feed back on their forums, the forum was overrun with historical players and elf fuckers.

Yeah I think this guy sums it up pretty well.
1d4chan's tactics pages for at least some factions include the end times errata changeups in their theorycrafting

I think there isnt that much end times stuff that changed significantly,mostly just the 25% upped to 50% heroes/lords allowance

Is it better to take 6 trolls in a unit of 6, two ranks of 3 or two units of 3? The back rank doesn't get to stomp right?
Thats another thing, are there units that you cant stomp? Im guessing you can't stomp monsters at least?

Why the hell would they do a reboot right after they license to big games based in the WHFB universe?

Maybe because they didn't want to hinge one of their products entirely on how well another company over whom they have no control performs.

Then you have to hope that people who play said games are interested in getting into the tabletop, which isn't that likely, particularly when one of the games could very well be better than the tabletop.

So need some opinions here, is the Lizardmen Battalion box (GW88-14) for $90 worth it? The leaks don't show a Battalion Box for the "SERAPHON" and because I'm a total neckbeard I will probably be buying square bases separately from now on for any new fantasy purchases anyway so my armies match.

Depends how competitive you are.
If you intend to use everything then sure, any discount is a win. It will never be enough on it's own though, because Temple Guard need at least twice those numbers to be effective. Now if you were to buy 2 Batallions...

If playing competitively, the Saurus Cavalry are a bit shit. You will have far more luck converting 2-3 of them into Scar Veterans, but you'll never need 8.

They did Mordheim as a PC game, and that game was tossed years ago by GW. Nothings stopping them from releasing a great idea, just because the original board game is gone. Same goes with Space Hulk. Don't see any of you fags whining about

Warhammer as it was is over. GW is over it, you, get over it. Sooner or later, production will fade, and all that was will come to nothing. New kits will release, new games comes and goes. The story will go on, and new players will join.
You will still be able to pick out those dusty books in the future, throwing a campaign of 8th, or perhaps even 6th edition with you're friends. Bringing manly tears rolling down the cheeks on every one involved, because you know it was a fun as fuck game!
But for now.. just let it pass.

The problem isn't that the tabletop game ending ends the digital one because that's not what happens. The problem is that GW are idiots for licensing a bunch of games that have gotten buzz and attention and there WILL be pople who play them that get interested in Warhammer -- only the game they WANT to see/play is now discontinued.

Eh, I don't buy it. WHFB will be back, I'm quite confident. Most likely AoS will morph over time back towards what WHFB represents before being phased out in favor of the theoretical 9th edition, or perhaps 10th or 11th if they count AoS.
