Either one, make the science almost impossible to use and make ethical exams and certifications along with actual mental screening so that only those who are quite possibly real life versions of paladins or clerics get the job and have them also be screened, with screeners watching the screeners- making the whole process more regulated than anything we know to exist
OR
The easy route.
We expunge it. We kill all scientists that worked on it or anyone who know anything about it, destroy any plans of it, records of it any data yielded for it, purge all news articles and records of it then finally to be safe outright restrict and ban the needed technology to do it. Then shoot the person who thought it would be a good idea to get politics involved and anyone he ever knew, loved, or cared about- and anyone that might care about those people.
What is horrifying is the second option is cheaper and probably more ethically sound than a method to potentially enslave humanity availble to anyone who claims to be a scientist which is how it goes today.
