MTG: Expeditions

No.43364403 ViewReplyReportDelete
So BFZ has been out awhile now. Does anyone know if there is a person or site out there that has figured out what the odds are on opening one of the expedition lands? I'm sure it's somewhere between 1 in 100 and 1 in 200 but that's a pretty big range.

Paladin background idea

No.43368738 ViewReplyReportDelete
If a Paladin willingly embraces the ideal that for the war between gods to end, the people themselves must be made holy and thus spared from the ravages of war, can they willingly choose to do what is necessary and therefore willingly fall (or rather, crash sword first through one of the motherfucker that really deserves it)? And if so, are they able to start taking levels in Ur-Priest in order to syphon the powers of the Divines and use them against them so that people are not subject to their deities whims anymore? Would they HAVE to be an evil alignment or can that be waived? Would any sane GM allow this?

(This is of course, following the ideal that paladins walk the line between good and evil, following their gods rules, until there comes a time when they have to give it all up for the greater good, then they can willingly fall to do what needs to be done and ask for forgiveness later if they believe themselves to be redeemable and if their god allows it.)

(Apologize for rambling, woke up with the train of thought for a mid-level 3.5/5th ed character)

Anyone got some neat skill/setting examples of Magic tiers that are universally available?

Like, anyone who is anyone can pick up ShitKickerMagics1-3. Moving up a tier requires effort and preparation, learning intuitively rather than rote inscription, etc. And then you've got the chosen ones up a level who are busy kicking reality in the teeth.

Much appreciated.

Gonna be heading to my first fnm tonight. Just starting playing again a couple weeks ago, never gone to anything official before. Any tips? Or anything general I should know?

No right choice situations? If I, as a DM, set them before the players, am I being an unreasonable dick, or am I giving them a chance to make a choice that impacts the setting in absence of a clearly right direction to go in.

Why don't BBEGs bother with theatrics any more?

It's like they don't even care about making a statement. How do they expect to impress people or rub their superiority into everyone's face?

VeloCITY - The Wind In Your Hair

No.43302079 ViewReplyLast 50ReportDelete
Hey folks. It's Mr. Blue Sky, lead developer for VeloCITY - The Wind In Your Hair, the Jet Set Radio-inspired homebrew about shredding tarmac and halfpipe alike.

Just as always, you can find the latest version of the system at http://1d4chan.org/wiki/VeloCITY.

A new month means a new update. Version 1.22 is a relatively small update, with a couple of extra sample NPCs for GMs to keep track of and incorporate. I promise I'll be moving on to other bits of the GM guide chapter soon.

Just as before, any characters, stories, plotlines, questions, comments, suggestions and anything else you can think of are more than welcome here. Enjoy the game, and let me know what you think.

Reposted since the last thread ended too early.

Adeva Beta Draft 04 - Back From The Dead Edition

No.43311509 ViewReplyLast 50ReportDelete
Posted this late last night, but it didn't get that much attention and the thread died while I was sleep. Figured this was worth another go, under the assumption that someone out there actually wants this draft.

There is no sugarcoating it. This draft is late. Super, super late. I wish I could say that it is as late as it is because of all of the new content and changes and fixes, and that was certainly a factor, but mostly I just ran out of steam for a while and let the clock run. That and some personal blog stuff no one cares about for good reason.

The good news is, now that I have cleverly waited until interest in AdEva is fucking dead as a doornail, there is no one left to be mad that I ruined that part of the system they liked.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/p2r43tp08axwp1d/Adeptus+Evangelion+V3+-+Open_Beta_04.rar

This draft brings in the new movement and range system, Sectors! Get used to them, because they are not going anywhere any time soon.

We also rebalanced weapons (which is to say: weapons now have a level of thought put into them beyond "yeah, that sounds about right") as well as included a bunch of new specialty weapons that are based around unique effects rather than damage dealing. So have fun with those.

The Magi Results table is not complete shit now. Only took a year. Progress.

And then there is a bunch of other reorganizing, reformatting, and rewriting of shit all over the place. There is a changelog, but to describe that as incomplete is an affront to the definition of the word. So finding new changes this draft is going to be something of an easter egg hunt. Most of them you are going to find the first time, some are going to surprise you weeks or months later in awkward places you don't look very often.

As always, I am here to answer any questions, comments, or concerns. Lets just try and get through this transition together.
