>>43379123You note the direction the shadow of the octopus heads in as you glide down to the ship. Milly is engaged in directing lizards to deal with a half dozen problems, more than one of which is fire. You kind of wonder how the octopus started a- Oh wait, that was you. She yells for lizards to copy the human crew and occasionally pokes her head overboard to yell that the lizards down there stay there until they can lower a ladder. Apparently she has concerns about lizard claws putting more holes in her ship. Her mast is currently leaning more than is probably desirable, and most of the fences on the deck side have been broken in at least one place. Half her crew appears to be in the water waiting for someone to find a non-burning piece of rope.
"Uh, need help?" you ask, carefully staying out of the way of rushing sailors.
"Can your black cloud thingy put out fires?"
You look at the clouds billowing out from you. They're made of water and magic. At least one of those things doesn't burn very well.
"If you can't put out fires then go tell the lizards in the water to stop trying to climb back aboard. Or help them back aboard. Just stop damaging my ship," she tells you in stern voice. She's taking to her new position quickly. Already super bossy.
"I was going to chase the octopus."
"Well, then you should hurry. Once it gets going it's faster than my Mom. I know this because she can never catch up to it."
"So she doesn't sink ships?"
"Mom and the giant octopi both do about half the ship sinking," Milly explains, "Now either help or get off my ship."
