I'm fully capable of separating the physical object and what it represents. Doesn't matter if it is some high quality bronze cast miniature or a butt plug, a token is a token.

My GM once used his buddhist Kongorikishi statues (which were around the size of huge monsters) as stand-ins for a pair of giants that were basically exactly that.

I still don't know whether it was awesome or pretentious as fuck. They were authentic clay statues from Japan.
