You could say GW took the mask off years ago, with the whole idea of making the Emperor and atheist, but now that they have a Black Library author who has officially endorsed Dawkins I have to wonder if they've hit rock bottom. Will Euphrati Keeler refuse to grant a marriage license to a pair of male astropaths in the next Horus Heresy novel? Will Sigismund refuse to bake a cake for Fulgrim's marriage to Lucius? How much worse can it get?

If you take books that only feature religion as a narrative element, enjoyed by many people of many different faiths (or none), and try to use them to push your own views about religion, that's pretty shitty.

You mean how McNeill wrote the Emperor in the Last Church?

Most people *thought* that was McNeill's intention at first, but him unironically giving that book to Richard Dawkins pretty much dispels any notion of that.

I can't really imagine why he'd think the Atheist Pope would be happy reading a book about a murderous, atheist tyrant who kills a kindly hermit-priest, all while spouting r/atheism tier memes.
