What are /tg/'s thoughts on this game? Just noticed it was out and was thinking of getting it. Worth it if I have nobody to play with? Most of my Steam friends are a bunch of fa/tg/uys I used to play that Deathwing mod for Left 4 Dead 2 with who I haven't even talked to in months.

Good enough for me. I'm one of those guys whose enjoyment of something is greatly increased when it focuses on a subject matter I like (in this case WHFB) in a media where it doesn't usually get a lot of attention so this seemed like a pretty safe bet, just wanted to be sure.

Got about 20 hours in the beta. Pretty good.

It's pretty much L4D in the pre-Skubmar Warhammer setting. But the setting comes through very strongly, there's more depth to the melee combat than first appears and the classes are nicely varied. Buggy as fuck, though - crashes and game-ending glitches aren't uncommon, and lots of people with decent systems are bitching that it runs like a dog for them.

Other than the bugs, the main downside is the community. Seems to be about 50% retards that waste bombs and heals and manage to get themselves knocked down or grabbed every thirty seconds and 50% OMG GIT GUD SCRUB IMMA VOTE KICK YOU FOR NOT USING AN OPTIMAL BUILD fucktards.

Some combat tips:
-Someone in the party needs an accurate ranged weapon that can one-shot a special/stormvermin.
-Someone needs a goddamn shield, or at least knowledge of how to abuse quick-switching to get free shoves
-Not enough people know about shoves in general, actually. You press attack while you're blocking to knock back enemies and draw aggro.
-Vote Kicking is an acceptable response to some dopey cunt alerting the stormvermin patrol.
-If you drink a strength potion before throwing a bomb, it'll be more powerful.
-Just like L4D, stick together. You go off alone you get grabbed by a special.
-if you're a melee focused class and you grab one of the ammo pickups before a ranged class can, go fuck yourself.

A lot of weapons are really shit. Ranged weapons, if they have no armor-piercing qualities, are doubly shit because ammo is so limited. And that makes rapid-firing ranged weapons absolutely useless.

Too many maps rely on just spawning enemies everywhere on small maps. There's not a lot of strategy to getting around.

The story is just kind of weak.

Yup. I don't know why the fuck the shield-less one handed weapons for the soldier and dwarf are even in the game. I've never seen anyone other than retards use them.

True for the elf, less true for the other classes. If you're primarily melee, running out of ammo isn't that big a deal and rapid-firing is great for hordes.

I love it so far - worried about how long lasting/big the community will be, but I've really enjoyed the Witch Hunter and Dwarf classes so far. Setting, sound design, art, and combat are great - really a pleasure to play! Missions are a bit uncreative though, and the final boss in particular sucked. I'd recommend it to us /tg/ types simply by virtue of it being a very faithful and well made representation of the Warhammer Fantasy universe (RIP). Overall a good game, 8/10 would recommend.

You roll 7d6, which is enough dice that the probability curve is very narrow - you're pretty much never gonna roll particularly good or particularly bad. It means that if you focus on getting all tomes and grims you'll ALWAYS get the top 1 or 2 slots and if you don't you'll ALWAYS get one of the bottom slots.

It's not in Beta or Early access anymore. I can't complete a single fucking mission after the very first (wherein a rat ogre spawned in a building and fell through the world and regular skaven straight-up stopped spawning). Every time I try we go along just fine until a swarm hits with 2-3 stormvermin and some specials or a rat ogre. The AI can't fight worth shit and when I get knocked down it completely shits the bed and all the bots will literally just stand there and allow themselves to be beaten to death. I bought it today and this has happened 4 fucking times. The game is STILL bugged to absolute shit.

Bots pathfinding is dildos as well. They sometimes will just walk off for no fucking reason. If you have even one bot on your team the odds of you failing increase dramatically. In my experience even a scrub is better than a bot. They are dumb as dog shit.

Have a one-handed axe with +2 stam. I effectively have a shield for the sake of knockdowns, plus my attacks about about twice as fast. Get fucked, son.

Also, rapid-fire exists pretty much solely for rat-ogres. It's why a Witchhunter with a brace of pistols is hands down the best thing for killing them.

Also, complaining about either story or strategy in a fucking L4D game. You'll get your tryhard faggotry when Versus comes out.

For non-faggots, how hyped are you boys for the expansions to come? Vermintide's confirmed to just be one side of the game, with planned additions for Chaos, Undead, and Beastmen.

Beastmen's mostly just an educated guess when they run out of baddies to use, plus the built in connection of Empire + Chaos Attack during End Times.

The ending cinematic directly tells you NAGASH and Chaos warbands are coming next, though.

Firstly, holy shit that ending was garbage.

And I can't really say I'm looking forward to skellingtons. For one, it gets the dumpster-tier villian Nagash is involved. For two, absolutely zero personality in the mooks as all of the personality is built into the Lords.

One of my favorite part of Vermintide is finding the elf getting swamped with clanrats that are just chanting, "BITCH BITCH BITCH."

God, the banter in this game is so fucking best.
