I pref a balance. Improv everything between the checkpoints but keep the group moving to a goal. At least that's what my personal groups seems to like the most.

Hope my time spent running leaves me with more speed and stamina than this armed and armored behemoth. So, bait him out, staying close enough but outside his range as I can manage without making it obvious what I'm trying to do. Ideally letting my mouth run amok so he's super duper intent on mounting my head on the wall. Once far enough away from the prize or any chokepoint, kite and sprint.

And the prize turned out to be my group all along because I lucked out already.

This looks like 3e so it's actually not hard, also I'm clearly not wearing heavy armor and The Enemy is. You take a full-round x4 running move action. Preferably going around the enemy just outside his reach but even if this is a 5ft wide hallway I can squeeze past him by spending an extra square of movement there and just bite the AoO, which is a near-guaranteed hit but I have a 50% chance of surviving and continuing on my way. The Enemy is wearing heavy armor and will never be able to catch me once I am past him. Ever, even with charges or runs of his own. The prize will be mine.

Tell the enemy that I am obviously too weak to fight him now and that it would be an unappealing fight if he were to just destory me. Tell him that if I get the prize I will be able to train and will come back to fight him once we are evenly matched.
