I'm going to a convention this weekend and they're running Palladium Fantasy demos. I've always been interesting in giving it a test run, but I have no real idea what I'm in for.

I've picked up the books and looked through them, and it seems like a pretty basic fantasy setting. What are some good races and classes to look at for a beginner? I know the class power levels in Rifts varies wildly, does that happen with Fantasy too?
Also do Black Powder weapons exist? I saw there was a Pirate Class, and the idea of wearing a belt of pistols is pretty damn neat.
