“Awright, awright, now lemme get this straight…” The policemen crowded around you on the airfield in northern Australia. “We shouldn’t arrest your smuggler Captain because he’s on a secret mission, and you girls are part of that, and you’re being pursued by both the Nazis and the Japs up north. This secret mission we can’t interfere in because it involves the fate of the world and if we interfere, we will be risking Australia’s national security and the rest of the world at large. Are we correct?”
Well, when they put it like that. You nod.
The policemen all look at each other. It was about early morning when the cruisers came, having recognized the Spirit of Fire and immediately besetting upon it to arrest Captain Kozminsky. They mutter to each other, quietly in their weirdo dialect. You could hear a few “crikeys” here and some words that would be very inappropriate to say in a Christian setting. They look back down at you. “But you aren’t running for that other Jap girl, right?” You nod at that, obviously referring to Sumire. They go back to discussing things.
Kozminsky pokes his head out of the door. “Are we clear yet!?” he yells. You shake your head. “Okay!” He gives a thumbs up, grinning as he goes back inside.
One policeman gets your attention. “And this one Nazi really wants that book you got, right?” You nod at that, sighing. You had to tell them quite a bit to even get them to stand down. Kirby and Sumire might not like it, but you’re not here to make enemies. Australians are trustworthy, sometimes. “Alright… do you have a name?” he asks.
“That’s classified,” you say. They all stop and stare at you, then immediately go back to muttering amongst themselves.
