I realized I haven't played Magic for four years and I will probably never play it again. Both be and my old pals started our adult lives and do not have time spend whole nights pretending to be planeswalkers anymore. I have lots of old cards left, including some valuables (dual lands, mana crypt, LEDs, Dark Confidants etc). What to do with them? What's the best way to sell those babies? Or maybe I should keep them cause their value will go up.

My gf doesn't give a flying fuck about the cards. They were never problematic or impaired our relationship in any way. She played a game or two with me because the wanted to try, found Magic boring and told be it's not a game for her.

Probably you could hold onto the dual lands. Their price certainly won't go down unless Wizards chooses to reprint them (never). I would guess the price is going to stay pretty stable though, so it might not be worth your time. As for your Bobs, you might want to get rid of them at some point, specifically because Wizards has reprinted them a few times. There'll always be a market for originals, but still.
If you want to sell, go to a game store in your town or sell them through eBay/ Amazon. You can probably get cash either way, but just know you probably won't get full value from your purchase. Maybe as low as 50%. Good luck anon

Thanks. One more question: is it better to sell singles or entire decks?

I have ten or so constructed decks, some of them being tourney-worthy at their prime. Can they fetch a better price as a whole?

Singles or playsets for the things that hold any modicum of value

Everything else sell in bulk lots. Check your commons and uncommons. Some things like Serum Visions are worth rwal cash now.

When people sell to stores, you can expect 50-70% of the current value, but you can get rid of it ALL at once. They won't give you shit for bulk commons though.

When selling straight to other people, you can easily get 90-95%, but this is only singles, not bulk.

When selling bulk, there will always be cards people don't give a fuck about included in the bunch, and as a result they won't be willing to give full value, but it can be done. Your best bet is to find newer players that want to get "into" magic, because they don't really care (or know) that they are getting mostly crap cards.

Sell expensive singles.

I also recommend you look for the nearest MtG trading/sale group on facebook. It's the most efficient way if you want to circumvent processing / ebay cuts etc.

Plus new players usually are just playing kitchen sink magic and might be tickled by some of the jankier crap cards. I know I was, once.

I even ran actual good cards like Abyssal Persecutors because we didn't run removal that wasn't Doom Blade or Lightning Bolt.

Ebay is the best bet. It's rare something that's desirable will go for much less than market value and you'll get real money as opposed to a local store which will give you 50% as store credit at most.

Thanks for banning all the good cantrips in Modern, Wizzerds!

I had to sell about 9500 commons before I moved halfway across the country six months ago. Just my luck I threw away probably $30 on Serum Visions because they spiked a month or two later.

I'm curious as to how old you are OP.
Every time I hear people say this shit they're usually people in their twenties who think that they're 'too mature' to play games anymore.
Put them in a box somewhere and forget about them, but don't sell them unless you're desperate for money.

I play Legacy once a month, 20 of the 25 regulars are 30+, have real jobs, wives and children. We still show up because a man needs time to himself and his hobbies.

Unless you're actually old and have gotten into old people hobbies like golf, bingo and collecting toy boats, find yourself a playgroup and have one magic night out once a while. You won't regret it.
