What are some interesting ways to challenge your PCs?

One of my favorites has been sending them up against a con-man, good bluff, good forgery, good disguise; suddenly their Base of OP is at risk, their guards are less secure and if they got any funds in the bank they're probably in trouble.

Never had a group that didn't have trouble with a competent con-man as an antagonist.
