Legends of the Wulin is one of my favourite games, because it straddles the line between crunchy and narrative games. It has a strong, well designed set of mechanics alongside a lot of fluffy and interesting design choices focused around emulating the genre rather than any sense of necessary realism, and altogether it works really well.
The two major issues are bad editing, and strange assumptions the system makes which aren't clearly stated due to the aforementioned bad editing. A very simple example is that, in LotW, you roll first, and decide your actions afterwards, which is the reverse of almost every other RPG I've ever played. It takes some getting used to, and that's the sort of thing the book doesn't really do a good job of explaining.
There's a lot of people around who can help you understand it. The Wulin Legends homebrew wiki and the Half Burnt Manual are great fan resources and errata which improve the game a lot, and the #LotW channel on sup/tg/ is pretty well informed. Any particular questions on the system?
