No. the universe other than the sexless gems isnt what makes that show good, its the relationship between characters.

In a way I really enjoy just how outragous it can be, it gets away with power ranger esq action, nonsensical plots and deus ex machina all the time.

But the characters so rich, they can get away with musical numbers that people like. I really enjoyed that finale with the Stronger Than You song, I cant remember when the final battle was a musical accompany mixed in.

Not to mention I really never took a liking to the show. It's just another one of those incredibly weak productions Cartoon Network's been shitting out for a while now in a desperate bid for relevance.

Besides, I only ever read OC Quests, with the notable exception of Homeless Mutant.
