Wh40k was always about the dirt, in every single aspect.
Dirt in the lower hive, dirt in the upper hive, dirt in the space ships, dirt in the architecture, dirt on the battlefied, dirt in the minds.
If your art fails to capture this spirit of "everything is dirty somehow, but not in the good way" then your art is unfitting for 40k.
