I'd be deeply confused as to why a royal marriage with an obviously powerful entity was being handed to me as a player and be suspicious of the DM trying to have me eaten. If I could confirm that it wasn't some sort of trap, I'd obviously accept the marriage because it's a pretty strong boon. I'd also check with the rest of the party to see if they're cool with my character getting such a huge plot device, as you have to be careful not to have the plot revolve around you too much.
