What's the system like? How does it play? I've been interesting in picking this up for a while, but I have no idea how it actually plays.

Personally, I feel it is one of the best systems as you can apply it to literally anything and I feel it makes a lot more sense than most other systems realistically.

Again, very open to homebrew.

However, if you are used to stuff like Pathfinder or D&D it can be a little jarring to begin with; but easy to get used to.

It shares a lot of characteristics to the other Chaosium games like Call of Cthulhu and Rune Quest. On that note, I don't know what the system is like in its current incarnation.
