First off, asking why "/tg/" hates something is pointless. /tg/ is not a hivemind, it's a group of fa/tg/uys and ca/tg/irls with varying opinions. Many of the may in fact hate Paladins. Many of them also probably like them. I'd also wager a majority just don't have a strong opinion on them one way or another.
Next, the biggest problem with Paladins is usually not the player, but the DM, because for some reason. bad DMs take the idea that a Paladin can fall and decide the Paladin must be in constant danger of falling all the time and make their entire game focused around making them fall, treating it as a sense of accomplishment if they do make the Paladin fall.
Usually this is done with bullshit "gotcha" choices, where they must pick one of two options for something, and both are Evil and make them fall(while not making a choice is also Evil, and a falling). Though this type of choice also shows they know nothing about how falling works. Paladins can only fall when willingly committing evil or violating their oath. If there is literally no choice but to break their oath, they don't fall because they never had a choice not to.
At times, Paladin hate is also because of one subcatagory of Paladin players who think they have to be Lawful Stupid. IE, they have to follow THE LAW at all times, even when it's detrimental to the party and just causes trouble. Typically, these players will also play Paladins when it's completely inappropriate to(like, playing a Paladin in a party with a bunch of Chaotic and/or Evil PCs is just asking for trouble).
In closing, here are some more words.
