So I need some help with my 3.5 DnD character if anyone would be interested in helping

I was told my party needed a ranged arcane damage so I decided to build a dragonwrought kobold sorcerer/icantatrix with a focus on metamagic, and I showed it to my DM and he shot it down on the merit of the dragonwrought kobold being to strong and so now I'm deciding if I should stay with the Kobold or go with something else. Also we'll be starting at level 10

What are guys opinions? Should I stay with kobold or should I change, should I stay on the sorcerer/icantatrix path?

I'm not very familiar with DnD, the fuck is "metamagic"? I'm guessing they just used "meta" because they thought it sounded fancy.

Basically you take a weak spell, put all these steroids into it to make it a MUCH stronger spell but at the cost of a higher level spell slot

You mean you burn 4 times the magic for a minor increase in some parameter of a spell. Metamagic is almost always diminished returns, for when you need a different way of casting a weak spell. Like doing it silently or without materials or to make it have bigger AoE.
I've rarely ever found a weak spell that outperforms the higher level spell slot I'm burning for the metamagic. A fireball with a few more damage dice isn't going to be stronger than it's higher slot equivalent. Metamagic is about versatility, not power. But sometimes a grease spell that takes up the entire room is more useful than a greater illusion.

Damn. Actual metamagic where "meta" is relevant would be pretty cool. Strengthening and weakening spells cast be others, being sort of an anti-mage, shit like that.
