>>43344739Per Perkins and Mearls, if it's under "melee weapon" in the weapon list, it is a melee weapon and makes melee weapon attacks. The fact that they can be thrown (with or without the thrown property) and strike creatures at range does not make them ranged weapons or ranged attacks.
The critical feature of ranged weapons is that they utilize separate projectiles (with the exception of the dart and net), and those projectiles (even in the case of dart and net) are not effective melee weapons. You can stab with a dagger or throw it, but stabbing with a dart isn't going to accomplish much.
Weapons you can throw:
Everything, but it's probably going to miss and do shit damage anyway
Weapons you can throw effectively and add your Str to accuracy and damage:
Dagger, handaxe, javelin, light hammer, spear, dart, trident
Weapons you can sneak attack with:
Dagger (stabbing or throwing), dart, crossbows of any variety, bows of any variety, blowguns, slings
Throwing weapons you can use the +2 Dueling damage with:
Dagger, handaxe, javelin, light hammer, spear, trident
RAW and RAI, there is no problem with throwing two weapons in a turn even if this would seem to make part of the Dual Wielder feat useless; having drawn your weapon at the start of your turn and taking a swing at someone doesn't preclude the use of your object interaction. This is only POSSIBLY a concern for characters who make three attacks in one action or have reaction/bonus attacks. I'd expect a DM, when faced with these situations, to allow characters to throw as many objects as they can have in ready positions and have the attacks for.
