So I'd like some help on my game's setting and story, or just general opinions on it. I'll explain briefly the history, then a rough idea of the story, then the BBEGs.
The continent the players are currently one only has a few native sapient species, all of these being “Elvenoids”, which include Elves, Drow, Humans, and Orcs (to put it into generic terms). This groups them together as a set of species that can interbreed. This came about because ~170,000 years ago in a millennia long event known as the Seeker’s War. Before the Seeker’s War no mortal species lived on the continent, instead hundreds of thousands of spirits of varying power and influence, these make up the bulk of neutral aligned outsiders in the game (I am not using standard outsiders), as well as fey. Due to a dispute and reason lost to record the spirits broke out in conflict, nearly all choosing some side or faction. To fight their wars as soldiers these spirits came up with the Elvenoids, arriving on slight variations of the same model (this means if you speak to and elf they would say there are thousands of kinds of elvenoids, each likely made by a different spirit, but there are broad categories). Now, though there were many factions the spirits themselves divided into four main allegiances/factions, the alignment of these are NE, NG, LN, and CN.
The Seeker’s war itself lasted for an indeterminate amount of time, and many consider still going on today. Nations and empires rose and fell on the continent as different factions among the four rose to power and then obscurity. Their civilization did not advance as it should have due to continual societal collapse because of the continuous war fueled by their patron spirit’s fervor.
Now for recent history.
