So, vidya has become abysmally boring to me and my pals anymore, so I was thinking we could try doing some simple "roll the dice" RPG stuff. Any tips for doing something we could play with just a d6 and not too much effort outside of writing?

Traveller requires effort, but is d6 only. Mechanical.
FATE can be done with D6s easily. Narrative.
GURPS uses only d6s. Run. Run for your life.

Well, the thing is we all live pretty far apart, so I was thinking we could do something that could be played over Skype. A board game would be nice, but I would need some way of either having an online "board" or sit around moving EVERYBODY'S pieces and such.

If you're feeling lucky, Steam has seen a bunch of video game versions of boardgames, things like talisman and Space hulk and what not. I didn't know distance part so it seemed like a viable option. Hell maybe even cards against humanity since it too has a computer version you can play as well i think.

Online you're not restricted to d6 and could play a "proper" RPG. Though I don't mean something all-out and super crunchy or anything. Just don't restrict yourself so much. Don't go too simple outside of comedy games though, otherwise that can get boring.

If you're up for it, we can list plenty of easy to approach RPGs.

Online board games I find worse than online RPGs. Not sure why. Might get better with VR stuff.

Fate Core is free IIRC, should be able to google for it anyway.

FATE uses fudge dice, which aren't normal d6 though. It has two each of +, -, and blank. They cancel out or stack as you'd assume. You'll roll a small pool of these.

Funny, that's how I got here.

You could Try Pulp-Fu (Indiana Jones type feelin), Broken World (for multiverse sillyness), Poison'd -Pirate RPG, Blades in the Dark (Thief/Dishonored). Joints and Jivers (80-s kung fu movie super sillyness)
