I ran a game of KidWorld once (for those who don't know, KidWorld is a game by VajraEnterprises about a post-apocalyptic Earth where a plague rendered all the adults blind, and still causes kids to gradually lose their eyesight until they go blind at 16. It's like Lord of the Flies meets Blindness) which featured a community built around a (previously) abandoned, mountainous hot-springs resort. The terrain made it easily defensible, the facilities were good, and the hot-springs were not only incredibly luxurious (by post-Apocalypse terms) but also provided an effectively limitless source of good drinking water and could be harnessed to produce some electricity. It was paradise on Earth.
Then everyone got killed by Eye-Eaters (adults who discovered that eating kids' eyes allows them to temporarily regain sight, with predictable results).
