Has anyone tried this supplement for Basic Dungeons and Dragons? I'm going to DM some sessions for my friends and like to hear experiences with it. Anything to watch out for?

Also 17th century France thread! Post musketeers and purge protestants!

It's refreshingly well-written, for a Luke Crane book. I honestly can't think of too many adventures I could run with it, but that's more a fault on my part for not being familiar with the setting. All in all, it does what it's meant to do: provide simple but workable rules for gritty dungeon-delving in the 17th century with a touch of the dark supernatural. The magic using classes are very low-key, combat is extremely deadly and while I haven't actually played it I'm getting a strong feeling that the atmosphere is going to stay "Ratcatchers and Graverobbers" almost the entire game through rather than ever getting to "nicely dressed heroic nobles saving the country with magical weapons".

Just read through it, and it seems like a really cool system. I'd probably need to learn more about the era before I ran a game in it though. I like that the fighter class is clearly the best, as it should be, and I think the urchin is a super cool way of handling thieves.
