Most models are either not painted, primed. or painted beautifully. As for positioning you can go bits- worlds on Ebay and start collecting bits to customize them too your liking.

Ebay, among other places, sells new 40k kits for a good 20%+ off retail "buy it now", which is better than the discount you get from a GW bundle. There's also the chance you'll manage to track down a real deal if you're looking.

Of course if it contains only models you want and nothing you don't, maybe getting that bundle *from ebay* might be worth it?

First, buy product from your LGS. Support where you play.

Then the next option is to buy all that shit from Ebay. Many times people are reselling unopened boxes discounted with free shipping even.

Then and only then you buy directly from GW. Bundles are just one-click bundles. They are not discounted at all. GW just added all the kits contained together and added up the prices and are selling it at full retail. In fact, when you get it in the mail, it will just be all the boxes contained in that picture.

So in short:
LGS > Ebay > GW

Didn't GW used to sell those army boxes some time ago though that were a bit cheaper than buying them separately.

But what a disappointment that they just ship them in separate boxes.
