I thought we could have a thread to appreciate some classic Space Opera.
You know the deal: interstellar feudalism, surprising human/fuckable aliens, superscience that allows for ftl travel and massive engineering projects yet apparently doesn't change human society and standards-of-living much from mid-20th century levels, intelligent robots that somehow don't reduce the need for manual operations or even make slavery obsolete, space pirates galore and lots and lots of LASERS. Can also include hilariously outdated science like non-Einsteinian physics and jungles or retro-futuristic technology, but that's not a requirement.
So basically- Lensman, Foundation, Dune, Traveller, Endless Space and pretty much anything that isn't Star Wars or 40K (because they have a number of their own threads already).
