It's been a while since I've done any RPGs with my group, and the urge to DM has been welling up in me again.
This weekend, I'm hoping to start a new campaign and I thought since it's Halloween and all, why not give a good horror adventure a roll? I want it to be terrifying enough to send chills down players' spines, but I feel like I end up recycling descriptive gore scenes and horror movie tropes.
I plan on running a homebrew system and a setting, sort of a dark fantasy so I'll be able to tailor the game to my needs, if it helps at all.
What are some plot ideas with potentials to be really scary? What kind of scenes do you find terrifying/disturbing? Any advice on running a horror adventure/writing a scary plot would be great.
