Can we have a thread about cards? What's your favorite game, tips tricks, stories, favorite brand, whatever.
/tg/ is for traditional games and what's more traditional than a good old 52 card deck

My usual game is gin, rummy, hearts, but I moved to a new place and all these faggots want to play is spades. Straight up I have the basic idea of what I'm doing but I don't quite have the hang of it. Any protips from y'all?

I knew a guy that collected casino decks. It was a pretty cool collection honestly; he had a deck and a poker chip from every casino he went to. He was thinking about doing craps dice too, but he would have had to re-visit a lot of places since he would have started late.

Euchre best game, btw. So many highschool days playing that shit with my friends.

Its surprisingly hard to find people who want to play something other than poker around here.

Also if this belong on another board please tell me. I figured here was the best place to talk about cards and other board games I.e. chess, go, bakaran ect

I have a buddy who used to play in a few euchre tournaments. I don't know if he ever won but he would destroy our group whenever we played, everyone wanted on his team. It was pretty fun.

My favorite card game is a hold 'em variant called Iron Cross (also known as Cincinnati Cross). Basically, it's just like hold 'em but the face-up cards are dealt differently: 1, 2, 2, in the shape of a cross (the 1 is the center card, and each set of 2 is an arm of the cross, one card on either side of the center one). You make the best five card hand you can... but you can only use one arm of the cross. That's the trick of Iron Cross. I love the shit out of it, it always catches people unaware.

I collect cards myself, only about 50 decks right now though. I don't play enough these days to justify having more though.

Regular hold em gets kind of Boeing when its all you play, I'd be nice if we at least threw in Omaha or something.

My personal favorite is 5 card but absolutely no one plays it.

Correct. It would be as follows (x's are blank spaces)

I do 5 card stud, Omaha, Federation Day (props if you know it), 7 card stud/draw, Anaconda, standard hold 'em if we're feeling boring, and a few more amusing variations of the above ("7 card hi lo with a bye on the last card and the man with the axe takes all" levels of amusing). Omaha hi-lo is a fun game once you're two sheets to the wind, lemme tell you.

My frind just bot 6 decks of Five Suit playing cards (the fifth suit is stars, which are blue, and they have an additional jack-type card called Princesses).

I thought about a variant of Krypto my 5th grade math teacher taught the class.

You draw 5 cards. J/Q/K = 10, A = 1 or 11.
Using only BEMDAS, try to group your hand such that the values of the first four cards can arithmetically equal the fifth card.
Krypto 5 means 4 of the cards, with BEMDAS, equal the 5th card. Then add all 5 cards to your discard pile and draw 5 cards.
Krypto 4 means 3 of the cards, with BEMDAS, equal the 4th card. Then add the 4 cards to your discard pile and draw 4 cards.
When the deck gets empty, the one with the most cards in their discard pile is the winner.

For example:
A, 3, 6, 9, J
means I have the values
1/11, 3, 6, 9, 10

Krypto 5 can be done like this:
9 - 3 = 6
6 / 6 = 1
10 + 1 = 11, which is also my Ace.

Krypto 3:
9 + A = 10, which is also my Jack.

Me and my m8s are on a rotation of spades, hearts, and euchre; we're not the liveliest bunch. Lately we've been mashing two decks together and using them for hearts (52 cards out, so 0-2 queens of spades in a given tound) for the hell of it
