...I'm conflicted. He looks cool yet he's not what I expected, not that I expected anything to really blow my mind. The white boots and gloves look silly in all this tactical, however. And whats with the sci-fi guns?

Well, his first costume was all black with white gloves and boots, they're missing the white belt though, which would've made it look better.

As for his guns, they aren't that sci-fi-esque. He mods his own guns.

Pretty meh overall in any case.

the sci-fi guns is a thing that marvel/disney is enforcing with toys of marvel properties these days.

NO real world guns.

If it REALLY bugs you, there are TONS of real world guns you can track down in this scale, for cheap, that look great.

We're not complaining about the boots and gloves, we're complaining that they didn't choose either realism or spandex. Imagine how silly the 1966 Batman costume would look if they added the belt and other accessories from the Nolan films.

Most realistic Batman suit is Frank Miller's, but the cape still keeps it unrealistic.

So there you have it, the colors and uniform from the TV show, but "realistuk"

That really neatly summaries everything wrong with Sideshow's DC and Marvel 1/6 lines. Their Batman, Superman and Joker figures were awkward amalgamations of various different eras and comic incarnations - Batman and Superman especially suffered for it. Their Deadpool is an awkward mix of Udon and more realistic styling. Now Punisher's caught between two stools on styling too.

They'd have been much better-off doing the Mezco thing of picking one specific comic or artist's style and basing the figures off that.

You can't do what Batman does with those rubber barely manuverable batsuits from any of the movies, which is why the spandex with soft armor over the chest is the most plausible AND features a similar design to Adam West's.

I really don't get why they always choose those rubber costumes for DC characters. Stuff like Captain America's is basically realistic mallninja shit, so it's realistic, if a bit too tacticool. Comic Captain America's was kinda ahead of its time, with the scale armor, which makes it look like that dragon armor that was being developed for the army.
Of course, there was amazing spiderman's basketball costume...

Anyway, I'm not sure why you guys don't like the white gloves and boots, considering that's how he's looked 90% of the time in all his books since conception.

This is like design 101. Compare that to the Sideshow figure and notice the lack of cohesion in the latter thanks to lack of white on his body vs his limbs.

So have one of many comics where his webgear isn't black nor white. Jim Lee especially liked doing stuff like that and it looked especially cool. Can't get any interiors easily though and the amazing covers don't show it clearly enough

It's not a sideshow thing, as they have done plenty of figures from other lines with REAL weapons, and in the case of GI joe, they got licenses from the weapon manufacturers.

It might be a licensing issue.
They don't want to include real guns, ie, actual real ones, so instead create their own, like you see on GI Joes.

So Sideshow does more original designs, rather than Hasbro who tries to get as close as possible but with enough liberties to not be the same.

Disney owns all of Marvel. They just license some of it out to other companies, and in the case of the Spider-man, X-men, and Fantastic Four movies, those deals turned out to be incredibly shitty in the long run.

Honestly, i don't remember. it was over a year ago. I went back and asked on the Sideshow toys forums where it The comment was made, So once I get an answer, I'll link to it.

what I DO remeber is a big stink was made when this picture was posted, and someone from sideshow showed up, answered a bunch of questions, and one of them was about why deadpool, as well as the not yet revealed punisher all had fantasy guns, INSTEAD of real world guns, like their Gi-joes had.
