I agree with grimlock, being a hammer user it slows down fights, and I'm playing my first run on magnus with him because I feel the others would melt and fights would be too slow without the use of a hammer.
I think megatron does it too, the final battle when on the ground before going to space.
So far from who I sued both optimus and grimlock can grapple, but grimlock gets that move, optimus throws people around like cars and grimlock's are easier to pull off mid combo.
