How does /trv/ afford exuberant air costs? It's about $1,000 roundtrip to Europe and 1,500 for Asia. Maybe I just have a skewed view of money, being a dirt poor college student. It's frustrating because I have wanderlust bad.

Strange feels

No.1046471 ViewReplyReportDelete
Fellow /trv/lers. I'm experiencing the strangest feels.
A couple of months ago I bought tickets to Malaysia on a whim, cos it looked like a good place to visit, cheap too, with great food etc. Booked and paid for hotels and everything.
I didn't do any in-depth research like I usually do before buying tickets. Now, the two-week visit is looming closer and closer, and I don't know, I'm getting cold feet for the reasons unknown. I'm not looking forward going. I should be happy and excited, but am not.
I feel like I don't want to go at all, but I cannot get refunds on tickets & hotels.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?
And how much did I fuck up when I bought the tickets to KL in the first place?

Motivational thread, I guess... Or demotivational.

Europe in Winter

No.1046319 ViewReplyReportDelete
I'm a brazilian who is studying for an year in Europe (UK).

I will soon have my Christmas vacation, so I will have 3 weeks free on which I wish to travel throughout the continent.

I know that winter has some bad points, such as the climate, but it also has some good points, such as cheaper and less crowded places.

But I still haven't planned anything, so I would like your opinion on nice places to go on Winter, specially for Christmas and New Year.

I also intend to travel next summer, so if there is any special event (like the Moscow Winter Festival, for example) on this time of the year, I would love some recommendations.

My initial plan was Christmas in Prague and New Year in Berlin. A couple days at Northern Norway/Sweden to try to see the aurora borealis, and some days in Germany to visit Chirtmas markets.

Any help, suggestion and information is very welcome :)

Lost documentation / robbery abroad

Have you ever lost your wallet/passport or been robed while you were traveling? Did you get your stuff back? how did you felt and reacted when you realized something was missing?
I'd like to hear your experiences with this topic, which I'm sure, sadly, a lot of us suffered.

Hello, anyone have experience traveling in Indonesia? I will be flying into Jakarta for 20 days in January. I wanted to spend a few days in Jakarta at least and explore the city. The Jakarta surrounding area too like Bogor and Bandung.

I was thinking of taking a train to Yogyakarta to see the temples and exploring more of Java.

Does anyone recommend anything I must do/see while there? Or any other destinations?

Also, from your experience how safe is Jakarta and other places in Indonesia for a solo traveler. I have read its overall a safe place, but petty crime is common.

Experiences with traveling as well as living in cars for long distance?
I was interested in taking that on, but I'm not sure what all of that entails. The legalities and all, sounds interesting but I am hesitant.

Found a flight + hostel to Russia, for two whole weeks it would cost ~600$

So let's have a Russia thread, stories, experiences, thoughts? Possibility of finding better deals? How much food in Moscow and just doing shit would cost too?
