I've got $12,000 right now, and I live in the United States. With these two facts, what countries can I actually just up and move to? Australia and New Zealand (and Ireland and South Korea) have their Holiday Work Visa things, but practically Ireland would be a shit place to actually try to live. Are there any countries besides this? Would any of these countries be specifically a bad idea? What are the chances of even being able to stay and live there without getting deported or whatever at the end of the visa term?

Do you have any marketable skills or anything? Very few countries are going to let you immigrate with $12,000 in the bank unless you have a skill they need.

1. Travel through Iceland.

2. California national parks. So Sequoia, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Death Valley. Would also include LA and San Francisco.

3. Utah / Arizona / Nevada national parks. So Zion, Bryce, Arches, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley. Would also include Vegas.

4. Canadian Rockies and Vancouver Island. I've already been there though. It was amazing, but it's not new.

5. Scandinavia. Mostly Norway and Sweden, maybe also some Lapland.

Probably number 1....

Anybody have any experience doing off the books manual labor such as construction in other countries? I think about going to other places around the world and being there for a couple months or so at a tome but id like to be able to make money if i need to.

Go to Argentina, where my $8000 are worth $12000 on the dollar blue market.
Eat well, book nice 4-5 star hotels, get wasted in Mendoza, visit iguazu for a few days, hike in Patagonia... Most likely I will have over 3k left at the end of the trip.
Oh I actually did that 3 months ago and would do it again.
