Weather permitting, Columbia River Gorge ain't a waste of time. Nice hike,but suprisingly very high and long too. I also liked hiking in Mount Hood and driving up the mountain.
Portland is also great, always eat out somewhere new, nights were a tad too creepy when I went. Lots of bums and young folk roam around and its a pretty dark city city at night by my standards. There's also a lot of strip clubs around for some stange reason...
