ok.im going on a trip to ireland for a week with my school band in april, and i could apply for a discount if i write a 300 word essay about what i hope to gain from going on this trip. i do not have a strong suit in writing, i have always had trouble throughout high school with writing. any ideas what to write about?

Does the teacher judging the essays like you? That will matter a lot more than what you write about. If there is only one winner for this discount then it will go to the teachers pet, no exceptions, so unless that is you, don't bother. If the essay is just a requirement to show you have thought a lot about Ireland and are worthy of one of a number of discounts it might be worth a shot. If so and it is the music teacher or band leader judging why not write something about the Irish folk music scene at the moment and how you hope seeing real Irish folk music preformed in Ireland by Irish people will influence your playing? 300 words is not a lot to come up with so don't be daunted by it, this post alone is 161 words long so as long as you write about something related to Ireland and you that'll probably be enough.
