Britfags...I'm going on a completely impromptu trip to London from next Tuesday to Saturday and I've never been to the UK before. I'm super poor (my sister is taking me along on her business trip all paid for) and I'll be alone during the days other than the weekend. I need things to do that are awesome but inexpensive and don't need planning.

Some museums are free in London, and are definitely worth seeing, e.g. the Science Museum near Imperial College.

Also the Natural History Museum is a good (free) option. South Kensington tube station, also has the V&A next door.

All public museums are free in the UK, as other people have said, the Natural History museum is probably the best, but they're all top class. I'd also heartily recommend the Imperial War Museum.

I did something similar this summer OP.Don't forget Tate Modern and Tate Britain. Walk around the outdoor markets and eat the free tasters, don't pay for sandwiches, make your own ect.

My special recommendation would be to walk the Thames Path from St Pauls to the Thames Barrier (about 12 miles). It's a fully signposted public footpath which runs along both banks of the river and gets across the broad sense of city along with some fantastic views. Highlights include beach combing for flotsam and bones beneath the towers of canary wharf, walking beneath the Thames in a Victorian foot tunnel, walking through the naval college in leafy Greenwhich, more skyscrapers and suburbs, running past the sand cranes near the deep water docks, seeing plenty of wild life and the majesty of the Thames itself.

The historic pub walk I went on was led by a 'mudlark,' and we stopped under Blackfriars bridge for a quick rummage. Cool stuff.

OP here. What are some cool pubs or night places that I can go to alone and meet people? Not like a hookup, just to like mishmash with people for the night and have fun. I'll be alone for the first few days.

Some good tips so far.

I also recommend heading to the Southbank/Royal Festival Hall. There's always something going on there and much of the space is open to the public during the day to just hang out.

London also has amazing cinemas if you're looking for something to do on a rainy day. Very central ones aren't cheap, but I recommend the new Picturehouse Central cinema, which shows a lot of art house/non-blockbuster films. Then there's the Ritzy in Brixton (check out the market for cheap around the corner) and the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill (a super comfy boutique cinema).

Live music is also amazing. Check out what's happening on songkick whilst you're there. Places like Camden and Shoreditch have nice small venues with music every day.

Check out the parks, St James, Hyde, Regent's... all beautiful in the Autumn. Hampstead Heath too.

Apps like Flixter (cinema listings), yplan (stuff happening) and sites like songkick and yelp.

Tinder is also very popular in London, should you want to try and find a date/someone to hang with.
