>>1045573I heard a story on the radio one time (prolly NPR) that discussed the income an Uber driver could make as a self-employed taxpayer. The breakdown of the expenses, insurance, and wear/tear and depreciation...and then compared with the higher fare of a regulated taxi company, and their required expenses due to regulations, and so forth. My conclusion was that you should 1) be concerned with your liability in case of accident in an Uber, or any other ramifications for using unscreened or untrained drivers, and 2) they aren't making enough money to warrant even doing this job at all, as a full-time job, at least. It led me to respect both types of rides, regulated and uber free agent types, but that you should take your extreme discount and convenience and tip quite well.
