>>1046132I've never lost anything but I've met people who had.
I've told this story on /trv/ several times but basically a british chick left her bag on her bed while she went to have a shower, when she got back, her wallet and passport were gone. I arrived a few days later and she had been stranded the whole time because she didn't have any money to travel anywhere until someone could arrange some sort of money order.
This was Penang, she was on her way to Thailand and now she had to go all the way back to KL to get a new passport and wait for it to arrive and then she'd basically be out of time and money to go to Thailand at all and have to go back to the UK without doing 90% of her trip.
I'm 90% positive it was stolen by this scumbag expat couple that had a permanent room in the hostel but obviously I have zero proof, they were just obviously junkies and I don't trust any addicts. I suspect they dip into the bags of people passing through and now and then head up to BKK to sell the passports they've collected, it would be an easy way to fund a scumbag lifestyle in SEA.
