In fact, 'choice' in the sense you meant doesn't even make sense as a concept. How can a decision of any sort be arrived at without any prior cause? Even if you try to take refuge in the apparent randomness of quantum mechanics, how would that get you closer to free will? Doesn't randomness imply even less agency than determinism?
