What is so special about it?
All I can think of is that it is literally "Gay Propaganda: The Series"

It tries to be deep and stuff, but it fails and is very lame. I have watched the first season so far, but I don't really like it. So that's why I think it is overrated.

It's not even close to the level of True Detective, The Wire or Mr. Robot for instance.
