>>62235878>not enough drugs and gun fights in Mad Men huh?Nice strawman. No, I like pathos, philosophical rigour, uncompromising character arcs, actually funny humor, a sense of direction, believable characters, consistently brilliant synthesis of sound and visuals, consistently appropriate and effective cinematography, indifference to populist desires, and most importantly, a narrative drive that permeates the entire show. Not one that goes in one direction for season, reverses a bit then pulls a 180 come next episode. I watched all of Mad Men. It was an entertaining period piece with very occasional laughs. Nothing more. David Chase always wanted to direct films, and it's obvious from watching The Sopranos that this is the case.
Funny how the Weiner-directed episodes of the Sopranos are its weakest.
Your turn.
>>62235593I've never made a single thread about the show. I make a point of joining in when people have the audacity to compare Mad Men to it, though. Sopranos finishing airing 7 years ago. Some people- alot of people- haven't yet seen it and are indecisive about it because it's so old now. Seeing it put on par with a mediocre drama like Mad Men is discouraging people from picking it up. Is that what you want?
